Accommodation

After the rescue and operative escorting of victims, and performing status assessment and risk analysis on their behavior, they are sent to one of the protected accommodation facilities of the country. Inhabitants in protected houses are able to participate in a full-scale, personalized process of rehabilitation and integration/reintegration.

For the duration of the status assessment and risk analysis, our Organisation operates a temporary transit centre.

Status Assessment

Victims of human trafficking are first transported to a secure transit center, and their status is examined. Their medical and psychic condition; their routine activities and lifestyle, the consequences of psychic and physical abuse, physical complaints, chronic or acute diseases and disabilities undergo assessment. At the time of establishing contact, we gain a picture of their social relations networks, communicative and problem-solving skills, stress tolerance and handling, and readiness to cooperate.

Status assessment is extremely important when treating victims, because this is what enables us to provide the most appropriate placement and personalized help for them.

Risk Assessment and Risk Analysis

In many cases, the life of victims of human traffi cking is in danger, and there may also be numerous other hazards (e.g. testimony withdrawn out of fear due to threats or abuse). For this reason, it is necessary to reveal and analyze risks before developing an action plan and reintegration plan. We group and evaluate possible risks. We investigate the probability of occurrence of individual risks and the eff ects of this prospect, besides ways of decreasing or eliminating it. The analysis concludes with working out these measures, in other words, the risk management. The occurrence probability of individual risks can constantly change, so risk analysis on a regular basis is necessary. Consequently, our staff repeatedly perform these tasks from time to time.

Risk analysis plays an extremely important role when making the joint decision about which should be the location inside (in certain cases, outside) the country where the victim will be taken for placement in protected accommodation.

Protected Houses

HBAid has been running protected houses (shelters) in different regions of Hungary. We are able to accommodate VoT’s safely for shorter and longer terms as well. Out of the houses, our organization also provides psychosocial assistance by specialized social workers country-wide.

Levels of Assistance/what we provide:

1. Case assistance on private and family level
2. Group work: forming natural supporting network, social building clubs, organizing activities in and out of the house to use leisure time usefully
3. Social level: organizing programs outside of the house
